Baga Beach

Flanked by the more crowded and renowned beaches of Colva and Calangute on its either side, Baga beach is a pleasant alternative of retreat and relaxation in Goa. Located merely 15 kilometers from Panjim, the capital city of Goa, Baga beach has much to offer to its visitors, all round the year. Known for its stunning beauty, Baga beach is a small beach with palm trees stretching down the shore and almost reaching the water in some places and huge black rocks on the extreme right of the beach, with the water of the Arabian Sea crashing into the rocks. Baga beach is located 10 kilometers west of Mapusa. It is a favorite with international tourists, especially from Great Britain, who flock the Baga beach for the excellent facilities of water sports available in the region.
Baga beach offers its visitors some of the best spots for idyllic sceneries, relaxation and solitude. It is one of those picture perfect beaches in Goa, best known for fishing. The latter is the most important and favorite draw for the tourists to Baga beach. In fact most tourists come to the place to enjoy fishing exclusively. However, there are other things to do in Baga beach. This includes swimming and paddling where the water is the most gentle, ideal for children especially. Sun bathing in the quiet is another popular activity with the international tourists. Another popular attraction in Baga Beach is the hot springs at Mottant, which is considered as therapeutic for diseases related with bones. It is also an ideal picnic spot and provides some great views of the region.

It is easy getting to Baga Beach. It is merely 10 minutes drive from Mapusa and a half hour drive from Panjim, the capital city of Baga beach. There are buses at frequent intervals to and fro between Panjim and Calangute and Baga. Tourists have ample choices, where accommodation in Baga beach is concerned. While the Baga Retreat House on the Baga hill top offers a breathtaking view of the entire coastline, there are also other hotels and beach resorts. Some of these include Cavala Resort, Colonia Santa Maria Resort, Hotel Baia Do Sol, Maizon Star Resort, Ronil Beach Resort, Sun Village Resort and Hotel Mello Rosa. Baga beach is known for a lively night life, while it has some of the best restaurants of Goa.
