The Mormugao Port is situated in the mouth of the Zuari River. Precisely, this harbor is located in the Mormugao taluka, in the southern part of Goa.
This harbor has played a significant role in increasing the trading and export industry of the country. A large portion of the country’s iron ore is exported from this harbor of Goa. This harbor started operating full fledged around late 19th century, during the rule of the Portuguese.



In the recent year, this port of Goa has acquired immense accolades for helping the export industry of India to progress so smoothly and fast. Almost 24.50 million tones of iron ore is exported from this Mormugao Port throughout the year. Almost 32% of the entire country’s iron export is handled by the Mormugao Port of Goa. Besides all these, this place is also famous among tourists.

Mormugao Port was once featured in an English war film, ‘The Sea Wolves’, in the year 1980. People visiting Goa, make it a point to visit this marvelous site of Goa and enjoying the serenity that prevails here.
