Panaji – Capital City

Panaji, the capital city of Goa is referred to as Panjim in Portuguese and is located in the northern region of this Indian state. This third largest city of Goa lies on the banks of the Mandovi estuary. It encompasses an area of 36 km2 and more than 65,000 local inhabitants. Presently, the mayor of Panaji is Tony Rodrigues. The principle languages spoken in the capital city of Goa are Konkani, English, Hindi and Marathi. Chirtianity, Hinduism and Islam are the predominant religions of this place. Latin styled houses, spacious gardens and parks, numerous statutes lined together, and avenues with trees on both sides adorn Panaji, the capital city of Goa.
